As a person who has been in the content writing field for the last several years I am often questioned by many on how to write good content. While there is no clear cut and well defined answer to it, yet at the same time it is sure that there are a few basic rules which can allow one to write great content. So here we go…
Before a writer begins writing content it is essential that they should ask themselves the following questions. The first question is ‘Why’ he is writing the stuff. The answer to this question will help the writer realize the agenda for the project. It is necessary for the writer to understand the goal of the project so that he can write well.
The second question is ‘What’ he should write. It is essential for the writer to asses what to stress and what to ignore. The next question is ‘Who’ you are writing for. Knowing the target market is of immense importance because this will determine the content standard as well as the style to be used. ‘Where’ will the content be placed is another criteria. Is it for outdoor ads, POP ads, print or audio campaigns, web banners, website content, blogs or mailers? This will help the writer to select the perfect format to suit the media vehicle for which the content is intended.
The last important question is ‘How’ he should go about the whole process. This will depend on the client brief, communication with the other creative professionals on the project, detailed research and the expectation of the client.
